Jan Cherim has been an investment and commercial banker for more than 20 years, based in London, Amsterdam, and the Far East.  An emerging markets specialist, he has been adviser to governments, corporates and financial institutions in all regions but has deep first-hand expertise of Asia, the Middle East, Africa and the Caribbean.   At ING, Mr. Cherim was a Management Committee member of the Wholesale International Banking unit. He also held positions as Head of Financial Institutions, Thailand Country Manager, and Regional Director for Africa, serving on a variety of management and credit committees.  He restructured and built-out ING's specialised financial sector advisory practice in emerging markets in 1998, and set-up several asset management subsidiaries.    Prior to joining ING in 1990, Mr. Cherim worked at S.G. Warburg & Co. Ltd. in London (now UBS Investment Banking) and the World Bank in Washington. He has been a Director or Board adviser to banks in Indonesia, Thailand, Taiwan, Russia and Qatar.  He is a Director of two Private Equity funds focused on emerging markets today.  Mr Cherim was educated at the Johns Hopkins University (USA) and the London School of Economics.

Peter van der Krogt started his career at the Dutch Ministry of Finance, where he was stationed in Washington as Assistant to the (Dutch) Executive Director at the World Bank and IFC.  Returning to the Netherlands in 1989, he joined ING Bank, and developed multilateral institution relationships and cofinancings.  He subsequently worked extensively in ING's international network, managing corporate financing activities in Manila and Moscow.  In 1999, Mr. van der Krogt moved to Jakarta and ran what was then the largest single financial sector advisory engagement in ING's history at Lippo Bank (see Case Studies).  He returned to Amsterdam in 2002 as Head of the financial institutions advisory business, succeeding Mr. Cherim.  Mr. van der Krogt has worldwide experience and particular regional knowledge of Eastern Europe and the Far East.  He is a specialist in banking restructuring, diagnostics, organisation and project management.  He was educated at the University of Leiden (Netherlands).
