Technical Assistance – Doha Bank

A far-reaching agreement was signed between Financial Access and Doha Bank in providing for a unique package of strategic management support and technical assistance to the bank over an extended period, so as to assist the bank’s management with the next phase of competitive threats and opportunities in the market. Arrangements were put in place for the provision of a Board-level Senior Adviser to focus on the support of business development and strategic planning issues; a number of key Director-level functions were outsourced to Financial Access, supported by short-term experts where required. The key areas of support were:

  • Compliance
  • Risk Management
  • Wholesale Banking
  • SME Banking
  • International Banking
  • Treasury & Investment
  • Operations.

A separate SME unit was established in Doha Bank, which included:

  • An in-house scoring system for credit approval designed
  • Specific SME-focused products were developed, including supply chain financing, SME credit cards, SME insurance products, SME online banking, among others.
  • A range of Innovative products were developed, including “Office in a Box” and “Doha Souq” as well as an online marketing portal in collaboration with the local telephone company Qtel.
